All about The Mergle!
As noted on the home page, Urban Dictionary has three rather… uhh… risqu&etilde;… definitions for “Mergle”, however, none of those three fit the intent here. The first definition (“Can also be used to describe a boring or blah place”) might be a little more in line with what we do around this here tin can joint, but only at the basest sense.
The Mergle is, quite literally, a MERGed data set with The Matrix, Leverage, Star Trek and other franchises, focused on a Sci-Fi / Geeky theme, blending a website design between Star Trek: TNG and The Matrix (and a pretty piss-poor one at that).
I (“BearlyDoug”) noticed several folks appearing in both Leverage and NCIS that I’ve picked up from my passion of watching Star Trek: TNG (and Voyager). So I had questions about what other shows I watched where these awesome people were also in there. While IMDB does give a complete historical cast appearance utility, it wasn’t as specific as I needed. Thus, the site was scrambled out of the zany atoms rattling around in my cranium.
About BearlyDoug…
I’ve had a rather interesting career. Been in a D-grade flick (Wild Women of the West, filmed in Cañon City, CO), one professional wrestling match under my belt (Ft. Carson, CO; Battle Royale, thrown out of the ring by Iceman King Parsons), a couple stints as bodyguard, several years in the restaurant industry and pretty much locked into the tech sector since 1997.
I also have some direct familial ties to Hollywood: Both my dad and step-uncle (paramedic partners) were tech advisors in Mother, Jugs and Speed (all star cast; I got to watch the scene where the gurney rolled out of the back of the ambulance and down the hill). And my great uncle was in multiple movies, though IMDB doesn’t list all of his credits (he was also a director… and has won 6 chairs, including the year I was born).
I love working on sites, but will readily admit that my ambitious plans don’t always come alive. 🙂
I’ll eventually have a couple “Buy me coffee” links for those that want to toss a few bucks my way. This site isn’t being pulled together to be a revenue generating site for me. More of a passing passion. 🙂
